Abstract

This article presents a literature review of research on an evolutionary perspective of regional resilience, seeking contributions from the topic to peripheral regions. They were published in Periódicos CAPES, Circle (Lund University) and IDEAS RePEc journals. It was identified that a resilient region must be able to sustain development in the long term, creating new growth trajectories for processes of stagnation and economic decline. These were empirical studies on resilience in different regions, emphasizing emerging countries, such as Brazil, Chile, Indonesia and Turkey, where it is evident that the concept needs to be further explored beyond the European continent.
