Elaboration and validation of digital health education material for patients with multiple myeloma
Abstract
This is a methodological study of the elaboration and validation of digital didactic material for patients with Multiple Myeloma (MM), applied in the hematology outpatient clinic of a teaching hospital in the Midwest of Brazil. Professionals and patients with MM in outpatient treatment participated. Initially, the preparation of the material was carried out. Data collection was divided into two stages: validation by professionals and by patients. Questionnaires were applied regarding the characterization and validation of the material based on the Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM) validation instrument. For application with patients, the SAM was adapted. 22 professionals participated in the research, 90% of whom had specialization in hematology and 10% did not, but obtained practical experience and studies in the area. Regarding the patients, the sample consisted of 39 individuals with a mean age of 61.9 ± 11,33. The instrument used to evaluate the material was divided into categories, with the Content Validation Index (CVI) in all categories greater than 90%. It is concluded that the digital health material for patients with MM was validated by professionals and patients. It is notable that education and health materials are important to help with the treatment of MM, offering greater autonomy for the patient.
