Agricultural cooperatives and the promotion of generational succession for young rural women.

The cooperative movement has as its essence the association for the development of activities together, with the aim of generating better economic and social conditions for workers, especially rural workers. Due to the influence of cooperativism on the economic and social development of rural properties and since generational succession is one of the themes that involve the continuity of rural properties, the present study aims to analyze how young successors of rural properties are inserted in agricultural cooperatives and the way in which Cooperatives contribute to the generational succession exercised by young women. Based on interviews with young female successors associated with cooperatives in the meat, grain and milk segments, the results of the study show that cooperatives have the ability to exert a direct influence on the decision of young women to become successors. However, despite these young women being included in various activities promoted by cooperatives, there is still a need for young women to be included in management positions and activities of a more technical nature, respectively, within cooperative organizations and rural properties.
